Kerende Gold Exploration is a mid-tier gold exploration company operating in northern Tanzania, with its parent company, Kerende Gold Corp, headquartered in the United Kingdom. The Company was founded by British explorer, the late Terry Thomas Blake, who arrived in Tanzania in 2008 during the global financial crisis. Establishing his first base in Singida, Central Tanzania, Blake hung a simple sign that read: St Clair Mines — Buying and Selling Gold — marking the beginning of a focused mineral exploration journey.
Two years later, Blake, alongside his partners and co-founder Tina Nduta, advanced north to Tarime District in Tanzania’s Mara Region, where they established the Kerende Gold Project at Golden Glory along the world-class Musoma–Mara Greenstone Belt. Kerende Gold is a highly prospective near-mine exploration project strategically positioned at the intersection of two major mineralized structural trends — the Musoma and Mara fault systems (approximately 060° and 130°). This geological configuration is widely associated with enhanced gold fluid pathways and superior orebody concentration.
The project lies within approximately 4 kilometres of Barrick Gold’s North Mara Mine, host to over 4 million ounces of gold, and adjacent to the historic Old Mara German Colonial Mine, whose tailings alone are estimated at approximately 170,000 tonnes, believed to contain up to 1,000 kilograms of residual gold. Kerende sits within one of East Africa’s most prolific Archean greenstone domains — a region historically synonymous with discovery. That legacy traces back to British explorer John Hanning Speke, who, alongside Richard Francis Burton, first entered mainland Tanzania in 1858 in pursuit of the Nile’s source — a chapter of exploration that continues today through mineral discovery.
More than a century later, Terry Blake followed a parallel path from Devon to Tanzania, driven by the same spirit of inquiry. Though neither Speke nor Blake lived to see their work fully realized, legacy does not end — it transfers. Today, Kerende Gold, under the stewardship of co-founder Tina Nduta, carries that vision forward — ascending the great heights of mineral exploration with mastery and precision, driven by a fierce and unwavering determination to find that dream mine.

Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to advance the founder’s legacy through disciplined, data-driven gold exploration — combining modern geoscience, artificial intelligence, and international development best practices to unlock high-quality mineral assets in Tanzania.
Through the Speke Gold Prospecting Programme, Kerende Gold is executing a structured, multi-target exploration strategy across three priority domains within the Lake Victoria Gold Area:

Our purpose is clear:

to build a next-generation African gold discovery platform — grounded in science, guided by technology, and executed with precision.
